All Saints' Prayers

The feast of the Epiphany celebrates the revealing of Jesus Christ to the wider world as its saviour. This event is commonly associated with the visit of the Magi (or 'the wise men') to the newborn Jesus. Epiphany follows the 12 days of Christmastide, which ends on 5 January.
2026
1st January

Holy God,
in Mary’s child you enter the world.
He is a gift beyond our imagining.
Angels hymn the peace he brings,
And, free from fear,
we awaken to all he promises.
Increase our longing for him;
deepen our faith in him;
build up our hope of him.
Amen.

Intercessions for Christmas Day 2025
The Nativity of the Lord

On this holy feast when the Word has become flesh and salvation has appeared among us, let us bring our prayers before the Father, who has sent His Son to save the world.

On the first day of Christmas Jesus Christ, your gift to us on that first Christmas, was born to Mary and Joseph in the poorest of circumstances. We pray for the poor of the world many of whom live in conditions far worse than the stable where Jesus began his earthly life.
Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer.

On the second day of Christmas the Heavenly choir of Angels appeared to the shepherds and sang to the Glory of God and we give thanks for our church music here at All Saints’ not only with Carols, at this joyful time, but week by week in our worship together.
Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer.

On the third day of Christmas the Shepherds returned home to spread the Good News. We pray for our Archbishops, Bishops, all Canonically Ordained, and those in lay ministry. We especially pray for Father John as he guides and inspires us in our journey of faith, for Tim, Maria and Father Michael.
Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer.

On the fourth day of Christmas the Three Kings arrived in Jerusalem and we raise before you the Holy city of Jerusalem praying that it may be place of true peace for all.
Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer.

On the fifth day of Christmas the Three Kings sought news of Jesus from King Herod and we pray for rulers of the nations in our troubled world where so many leaders abuse their positions and their power.
Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer

On the sixth day of Christmas, Herod ordered the "Slaughter of the Innocents”, and we pray for all those who have died in acts of genocide, racial cleansing and similar atrocities.
Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer.

On the seventh day of Christmas, The Kings found Jesus and presented their gifts, and we give thanks for the season of giving and receiving and for the joy and happiness that it generates.
Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer.

On the eighth day of Christmas, Joseph and Mary took the infant Jesus to the temple to present him to the Lord and for Him to be circumcised and we pray for all new-born children, for those being baptised and receiving their Christian names.
Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer.

On the ninth day of Christmas, Simeon rejoiced that he had not died before he had seen the Lord's Christ.

We pray for the recently departed Margaret Ball; Rodney Starkey; Rachael Hutchinson; Nick Thulbourn and Raymond Easey.

And we remember the anniversaries of death of Rose Jeffrey; Alan Dawes; Elena Joyce Gaylor; Diana Hil; Anthony Wilson; Harold Gaylor; Brian Sewell; Gwen Turnock; Hilda Williams; Mavis Konschell; Walter Warrington; Leslie King; Mary Fowler and Mandy Saunders.

Rest eternal grant unto them O Lord
And let perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace
And rise in glory.

Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer.

On the tenth day of Christmas, Anna, who had devoted her whole life to prayer and fasting, recognised Jesus as The Redeemer and so we pray for those communities everywhere who fast and pray for the world and for each of us.

In the same spirit we now pray for those who are ill or in need.

We place into your hands Sandra Gait; Pat Wright; Colin Burton; Pauline Reid; Wilma Symons; John Smith; Trevor Parker; Sophia Easey; Magda Collini; Peter Byron; Winnie Wakefield; and Nico Van Der Zwan.

(And in a moment of silence pray for one person you know who needs God’s help today)

Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer.

On the eleventh day of Christmas, the Holy family left the shelter of the stable and we pray for all those involved in hospitality and tourism and for all people who, like the Innkeeper in Bethlehem, make their homes a place of welcome and love.
Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer.

On the Twelfth day of Christmas, the Holy Family fled to Egypt, and we pray for all those fleeing their homes and the countries which welcome them and give safe refuge.
Lord, in your Mercy: Hear our Prayer.

Gracious Heavenly Father, you sent your angels from glory to bring to shepherds the good news of Jesus’ birth. We have heard his story, the story of Your own Son. May he fill us with joy to bring this Good News to others today and through the twelve days of Christmas and into the New Year beyond.

Gracious Heavenly Father, You have given us Your Son, born of the Virgin Mary, to be our Saviour and our peace. Accept the prayers we have offered and keep us faithful to the grace of this holy feast. Through Christ our Lord Amen.

Monday 8 December 2025
Today is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, in the 2nd week of Advent.

We also hold in our hearts all girls and women throughout the world, especially those who face violence, discrimination or poverty.
Pray with us.

Act of Remembrance Service
9 November 2025
Gracious Heavenly Father of truth and justice, we hold before you those whose memory we cherish, and those whose names we will never know. Help us to lift our eyes above the torment of this broken world, and grant us the grace to pray for those who wish us harm. As we honour the past, may we put our faith in your future; for you are the source of life and hope, now and for ever, Amen.

ALL SAINTS' DAY

O God, the source of all holiness and giver of all good things: grant that we, who have shared at this table as strangers and pilgrims here on earth, may with all thy saints be welcomed to the heavenly feast in the day of thy kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayers for the people within the path of
Hurricane Melissa

The feast of Simon and Jude, Apostles 28 October
Almighty God,
who built your Church upon the foundation
of the apostles and prophets,
with Jesus Christ himself as the chief cornerstone:
so join us together in unity of spirit by their doctrine,
that we may be made a holy temple acceptable to you;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen.

18 October
Feast of Saint Luke, Evangelist
Almighty God,
you called Luke the physician,
whose praise is in the gospel,
to be an evangelist and physician of the soul:
by the grace of the Spirit
and through the wholesome medicine of the gospel,
give your Church the same love and power to heal;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen.

Gracious Heavenly Father, thank you for the peace agreement between Israel and Hamas and for the return of Israeli hostages
We pray for lasting peace in the whole region and hope to be restored
For Israelis and Palestinians to live in peace together
For Israelis and Palestinians who have died; for those who have endured relentless violence and conflict
For all who are suffering and mourning, that you would be their comfort, their healer and their safe refuge.
In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ
Amen

A prayer for Prison Week
Prison Week (12-18 October 2025) aims to encourage prayer and awareness of the needs of those affected by the criminal justice system, including prisoners, their families, victims of crime, and prison staff.
PRISON WEEK 12 - 18 OCTOBER 2025
Gracious Heavenly Father, you offer freedom to all people. We pray for those in prison. Break the bonds of fear and isolation that exist. Support with your love prisoners and their families and friends, prison staff and all who care. Heal those who have been wounded by the actions of others, especially the victims of crime. Help us to forgive one another, to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly together with Christ in his strength and in his Spirit, now and every day. Amen

4 October 2025
On this Feast of St. Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
Amen.

Today's Prayer from All Saints'
We pray for all parts of the world suffering from conflict and violence, remembering especially the people of Gaza and Ukraine. May God turn hearts towards peace and guide world leaders to work for justice and reconciliation.
